GOD ALWAYS SURPRISES US by Major Allan Flemming (Salvation Army) Matthew 6: 25-34 “So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink? Or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them.” (31,32) Major Antonio Arguedas (Divisional Commander–Bolivia Central) writes, “I never get tired of saying with a lot of conviction, ‘GOD ALWAYS SURPRISES US’.” He tells this story: “The next day I was angry and said to my wife, ‘We should not have come to this appointment! It’s not fair!’ Before I finished talking, the phone rang. A voice said, ‘Are you Mr. Arguedas?’ ‘Yes!’ I said. ‘Well, you have a large box that has just arrived and you must come and claim it.’ “I rushed down to find such a huge box that I couldn’t even carry it. When we opened it we found a large quantity of food; milk, rice, noodles. There was enough food for a month. We were so surprised. God sent his angels! We learned a valuable lesson. It has changed our lives.” PONDER: Sometimes God uses difficult times to show us that we need not worry for He cares, He is with us, He will act on our behalf, He is able to do the impossible.
